Thermal Power Plants ( 9862 MW)- KSK currently has four power plants (aggregating 279 MW) that are fully operational, three power plants (aggregating 4183 MW) that are under construction and three power plants (aggregating 5400 MW) that are under construction planning stage.
Power Plants in Operation - 279 MW
- 58 MW Sai Regency Power, Tamilnadu
This is a natural gas-based combined cycle power plant with the capability of generating 58 MW of power.
Location: The power plant is situated in the Kalugurani village, in the district of Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu, India and was commissioned in September 2007.
Off Taker: SRPCPL, being a group captive plant, has off-take agreements with the key consumers, viz. Chemplast Sanmar Limited, Precot Meridian Limited, Brakes India Limited, Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Limited, The Lakshmi Mills Company Limited, Jagannath Textile Company Limited, El Forge Limited, Harshini Textiles Limited, Regency Ceramics and Light Alloy Products Limited.
Fuel Supply: SRPCPL utilizes natural gas as its primary fuel and has agreement with GAIL India Limited for the purchase of natural gas.
Operation: SRPCPL entered into operation and maintenance agreements with Operations Energy Group (OEG).The PLF of SRPCPL was 68% so far during the current year.

- 43 MW Sitapuram Power Plant, Andhra Pradesh
This is a coal-based power plant with the capability of generating 43 MW of power.
Location: The power plant is situated in Dondapadu, Andhra Pradesh, India and was commissioned in March 2008.
Off Taker: SPL entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Zuari Cement Limited (ZCL) and Sri Vishnu Cements Limited (SVCL) to supply Power to its cement manufacturing facilities located at Dondapadu, Andhra Pradesh. The Sitapuram power plant also acts as a load manager for ZCL and arranges alternate supplies of power. The Sitapuram SPV is entitled to sell unconsumed power to third parties in the event of non-consumption by ZCL and SVCL.
Fuel Supply: SPL utilizes coal as its primary fuel and has entered into a coal supply agreement with Singareni Collieries Company Limited (“SCCL”).
Operation: SPL entered into operation and maintenance agreements with Enmas O&M Services Private Limited. The PLF of SPL was 85% so far during the current year.

- 43 MW Arasmeta Captive Power Plant, Chhattisgarh
This is a coal-based power plant with the capability of generating 43 MW of power.
Location: The power plant is situated in Arasmeta, Janjgir-Champa District, Chhattisgarh, India and was commissioned in November 2006.
Off Taker: Arasmeta entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Lafarge to supply Power to their two cement manufacturing facilities located at Arasmeta and Sonadih in Chhattisgarh. The PPA provides for the combined total demand of power to Lafarge’s, manufacturing units. Surplus Power, if any, will be supplied to the CSEB.
Fuel Supply: ACPCPL utilizes coal as its primary fuel and has entered into a coal supply agreement with South Eastern Coalfields Limited (“SECL”).
Operation: ACPCPL entered into operation and maintenance agreements with Operations Energy Group (OEG). The PLF of ACPCPL was 85% so farduring current year.

- 135 MW VS Lignite Power Plant, Rajasthan
This is a lignite based power plant with the capability of generating 135 MW of power. The plant
has started production from 31st March 2010.
Location: The power plant is situated in Gurha Village, Bikaner District in the State of
Rajasthan, India.
Off Taker: VSLP has entered into a power delivery agreement with various bulk consumers in state
of Rajasthan and balalnce supplies to the local utility.
Fuel Supply: VSLP utilizes lignite as its primary fuel and was allotted with the Gurha (East)
Lignite Block at Kolayat, Bikaner, Rajasthan by the Ministry of Coal, Government Of India in July
2005. The expected consumption of lignite for the plant is one MTPA at 80.0% PLF. VSLP has
entered into a mining lease agreement with the Government of Rajasthan for a period of 30 years
and the mining activity is complete.
EPC Contract: The EPC contractor was SEPCO, a People’s Republic of China company.
Transmission: VSLP has been given permission by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited for
long-term open access on the intra-state transmission and distribution system for transmission
and distribution of power from its 135 MW plant.

Power Plants under Construction - 4183 MW
- 540 MW Wardha Warora Power Plant, Maharashtra
This is a coal-based with the capability of generating 540 MW (4X135 MW) of power. The power project is expected to be commissioned during fiscal year 2010 and 2011.
Location: The power plant is situated in Warora Growth Centre, District Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India.
Off Taker- WPCL, Warora has entered into a power delivery agreement with various bulk consumers in the state of maharashtra.
Fuel Supply: WPCL, Warora utilizes coal in pulverized form as its primary fuel and will contain four power generating units of 135 MW capacity each, which will use regenerative, single reheat rankine cycles for power generation. with the Coal supplies are tied up from western Coal fields.
EPC contract: WPCL, Warora has selected Sichuan Electric Design Company, a People’s Republic of China company, as the contractor to undertake design, supply, engineering and construction services.
Transmission: WPCL, Warora has obtained approval from the Maharashtra State Electricity Development Company Limited to evacuate the 540 MW of power.

- 43 MW Arasmeta Expansion Power Plant, Chhattisgarh
This is a coal based captive power project with the capability of generating 43 MW of power adjacent to the existing 43 MW Arasmeta power plant (the “Arasmeta Expansion”) and is expected to be commissioned during Fiscal 2011.
Location: We are developing this plant in order to meet the additional energy requirements of Lafarge for the expansion of its cement plant in Sonadih and for its planned cement manufacturing facility in Chhattisgarh. The power plant is situated in Arasmeta, Janjgir- Champa District, Chhattisgarh.
Off Taker: ACPCPL expansion has entered into an agreement with Lafarge to off-take 96 MU per annum with net capacity entitlement of 17 MW of power. We intend to contract the balalnce power with industrial consumers or the local utility for the balance of the power generated by the Arasmeta Expansion on a medium-term basis.
Fuel Supply: Similar to the existing Arasmeta power plant, the Arasmeta Expansion is expected to utilize coal as the primary fuel and provide a power generating unit of 43 MW capacity. We intend to augment the Arasmeta SPV’s existing fuel access from SECL for coal supply for the Arasmeta Expansion.

- 3,600 MW KSK Mahanadi Power Project, Chhattisgarh
This is a coal based power project approximately 125 kilometers from the Morga II coal block in Chhattisgarh. The original project was a 1,800 MW power project based on coal supplies from the Morga-II coal block by GMDC. With the availability of additional fuel from the Gare Pelma Sector III coal block in Chhattisgarh, the KSK Mahanadi Power Project has been expanded through the fast track development of an additional 1,800 MW of power generation capacity in the same location. This power project of 3600 MW is being setup in a single location and is scheduled to be commissioned on a unit-wise basis through 2012 and 2013.
Location:The site for this project is situated in Nariyara village, Akaltara Tehsil, Janjgir-Champa district, Chhattisgarh. Off Taker- Pursuant to the various underlying agreements, power I to be supplied to GMDC , GIDC, GOC or nominated procuring entities and balance being tied up in line with current market practice.
Fuel Supply:The KSK Mahanadi Power Project will utilize coal as its primary fuel, and will consist of steam turbine generator units, along with its boilers and plant. GMDC has been allotted the Morga-II coal block in Chhattisgarh from the GOI. The plant is entitled to seven MTPA of coal from the Morga-II coal block and nine MTPA . Similarly the KSK Mahanadi entered into a coal supply contract with the GIDC, for supplies from Gare Pelma Sector III coal, which is valid for 30 years from the date of commencement of coal supply by GIDC. The coal supply shall be exclusively for the KSK Mahanadi power project and the guaranteed contracted quantity of coal supply is nine MTPA.
EPC contract: The KSK Mahanadi Power Project has selected Shangdong Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCO), a leading EPC contractor from China engaged in power plant design and construction, as the contractor to undertake design, supply and provide engineering and construction services for the KSK Mahanadi power project. Under these agreements, SEPCO will supply the KSK Mahanadi with necessary equipment and materials and render such services as are required for the plant to generate aggregate power of 3,600 MW.

Power Plants under Planning - 5400 MW
- 1,800 MW JR Power Project – Naini, Orissa
This is a coal based power project near the Naini coal block in Orissa with the capability of generating 1,800 MW.
This power project is planned being based on a fuel supply agreement that we have entered into with PIPDIC.
The JRP SPV and PIPDIC signed a memorandum of understanding which specifies that PIPDIC shall procure a coal block from the GOI jointly with GMDC. PIPDIC has agreed that it will obtain a prospecting license upon allotment of the coal block and that the JRP SPV will have the exclusive responsibility for setting up one or more power projects for utilization of the coal available to PIPDIC from the coal blocks. The JRP SPV will use this coal to fuel the JR power project.
- 1,800 MW Wardha Naini Power Project – Naini, Orissa
This is a coal based power project near the Naini coal block in Orissa with the capability of generating 1,800 MW.
We entered into a memorandum of understanding with GMDC for the exploitation of coal reserves in coal blocks to be allocated by the GOI to GMDC. GMDC received, jointly with PIPDIC, a 250 million ton coal allotment from the Naini coal block in Orissa in substitution of another block.
- 1,800 MW KSK Narmada Power Project – Morga-I, Chhattisgarh
We, together with IDFC, are planning to develop the KSK Narmada power project, a 1,800 MW coal based power project near the Morga-I coal block in Chhattisgarh through an SPV, KSK Narmada Power Company Private Limited (the “Narmada SPV”). The Company and IDFC have entered into a memorandum of understanding with the MPSMCL for fuel supply.
The KSK Narmada power project will utilize coal as its primary fuel, and is expected to consist of steam turbine generator units.
The Company and IDFC have entered into a memorandum of understanding with MPSMC, pursuant to which MPSMC has agreed to apply to the GOI for allocation of coal blocks. MPSMC has since been allotted the Morga-I coal block in Chhattisgarh by the GOI. Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, the Company and IDFC would, inter alia, enter into an agreement with MPSMC for coal mining and supply. This is currently under litigation in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and provided that we can reach a fuel supply agreement with MPSMC, we intend to use the majority of this allotment to fuel the KSK Narmada power project.
